Gregory “Robocop” Rodrigues secured the biggest win of his career Saturday night at Golden 1 Center, defeating hometown favorite Anthony Hernandez via unanimous decision (49-46, 48-47, 48-47) in the five-round main event of UFC Sacramento.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Gregory “Robocop” Rodrigues spoiled Anthony Hernandez’s homecoming on Saturday night, delivering a calculated, five-round tactical display to earn a unanimous decision in the UFC Sacramento main event at Golden 1 Center.
The three ringside judges rendered scores of 49-46, 48-47, and 48-47 for Rodrigues, who quieted the northern California partisan crowd by halting Hernandez’s surge up the middleweight ladder.
Rodrigues seized control during the second frame, compromising Hernandez’s mobility with heavy low-kick attacks that repeatedly buckled the local favorite’s lead leg. Despite facing severe physical distress, Hernandez mounted a spirited third-round comeback, relying on non-stop pace to drag the Brazilian into tight grappling exchanges.
The hard-hitting contender regained command in the fourth round, finding a second wind to out-land Hernandez in high-impact exchanges while neutralizing deep takedown attempts. Rodrigues sealed the outcome over the final five minutes by maintaining center-canvas positioning and punishing frantic entries with counter hooks.
The official scorecards reflect a breakthrough performance for Rodrigues, extending his current UFC winning streak to four straight fights and establishing the 34-year-old power puncher as a legitimate threat to the middleweight division’s upper echelon.
