How VOF handles errors, updates and the public record.
Voice of Fighter (VOF) aims to publish information that is accurate, verified and presented in proper context. When a material factual error is confirmed, we correct it.
Accuracy is not a one-time act completed at publication. Reporting may continue, new information may emerge and legitimate mistakes can occur. What matters is how those mistakes are handled once identified.
What We Correct
VOF will review potential errors involving matters such as:
- Names and identities;
- Dates and locations;
- Fight results and records;
- Quotations;
- Numerical information;
- Organizational roles or affiliations;
- Factual descriptions of events;
- Material claims presented inaccurately;
- Captions, headlines or other presentation that creates a false factual impression.
A correction is warranted when published information is materially wrong, not simply because a person or organization dislikes the reporting, framing or conclusion.
How Corrections Are Made
Once an error is verified, VOF should correct it as promptly as reasonably possible.
Minor typographical or formatting mistakes that do not alter meaning may be fixed without a formal notice.
Material factual corrections should be made transparently. Where appropriate, the article will include a note explaining what was inaccurate and what has been changed.
VOF does not quietly rewrite significant errors in a way that obscures the original problem.
Updates Are Different From Corrections
A developing story may change after publication.
New results, official decisions, medical information, statements or other verified developments may require an article to be updated. An update does not necessarily mean the original report contained an error.
Where the distinction matters, VOF will identify whether a story has been updated or corrected.
Headlines, Images and Social Posts
Corrections are not limited to the article body.
If an inaccurate headline, caption, photograph description, social post or promotional excerpt materially misrepresents the facts, VOF may correct or remove that element as appropriate.
Presentation carries the same obligation to accuracy as the underlying report.
Requests for Correction
Readers, fighters, coaches, gyms, promoters, organizations and other affected parties may notify VOF of a potential factual error.
A useful correction request should identify:
- The article or content concerned;
- The specific statement believed to be inaccurate;
- The reason it is disputed;
- Supporting documentation or other verifiable information where available.
A request does not automatically establish that an error occurred. VOF will review the available evidence before deciding whether a correction, clarification or no change is warranted.
Clarifications
Sometimes published information is factually accurate but may require additional context to avoid misunderstanding.
In those cases, VOF may add a clarification rather than issue a correction.
Clarifications should improve precision without disguising a substantive error as a matter of interpretation.
Disputed Reporting
VOF does not remove accurate reporting solely because it is contested.
When credible evidence raises a legitimate factual question, the reporting will be reviewed. If the evidence supports the original publication, the article may remain unchanged.
Where a material dispute cannot be fully resolved, VOF may explain the competing positions and the limits of what can be independently established.
Corrections and Editorial Independence
Advertisers, sponsors, commercial partners, promoters, fighters, gyms or organizations do not receive special correction privileges because of a business relationship with VOF.
The same evidentiary standard applies to all correction requests.
Commercial pressure is not a basis for altering accurate journalism.
Contact VOF
To report a possible factual error, use the contact channel designated for editorial corrections and include enough information for the issue to be reviewed efficiently.
VOF will assess correction requests on their substance, available evidence and relevance to the published record.
Accuracy comes before appearance.
When the record is wrong, the record should be corrected.
